Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Sunday, April 3 at 8:30 a.m.

Waves at the Washout are knee-to-thigh high with a rare waist high set.

Winds are west/north-west at 5 knots, and surf zone is clean, but the surf is kind of soft at the higher tide. Looks like fun on the longboard. There are certainly a lot of longboarders on it this morning.

Look for continued north-west winds today at 10 to 15. Surf zone should stay clean today, as surf sheds some size on the lower tide this afternoon.

We have a high tide at 10:12 a.m., and a low tide at 4:06 p.m. The next high tide is at 10:23 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 2.6 feet at 2 feet at 7 seconds in a medium period south-east swell. This is pushing against a small north-west wind swell.

Surf looks to fade out on the outgoing tide. We will see another south wind swell begin to fill in Tuesday afternoon ahead of another series of storms that will move into our marine area from the west. This trend continues into Thursday, with strong south winds going south west Thursday. Surf will increase in size, but will have some wind on it. This could clean up late day Thursday or maybe on Friday, depending in the timing of the front. Surf will be small again next weekend as high pressure sets up, and beautiful weather returns.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “High pressure will prevail through Monday. A series of low pressure systems will impact the region through the middle of the week. Drier weather is expected to return late week into the weekend.”

It’s currently 64* and sun. Look for a high of 72* and sun. We have perfect spring beach weather.

Water Temperature is around 65*.

Sunrise is at 7:04 a.m., and sunset will be at 7:41 p.m.
