Good morning this is Luke with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Sunday, April 9 at 8:30 a.m.
We have new Secula, Stewart and Rusty boards in the shop. About 20 new fresshies in the shop. So, if you’re feeling squirrely, come check them out. Also, lots of spring suits are in stock for men and women.
Surf has built a bit overnight drifty waist-chest+ and looks fun. Just lots of current and wind to deal with.
So, surf is side-shore and getting ready to be as drifty and as big as your mom’s attitude on a full bottle of chardonnay.
Winds will continue from the north-east and increase today at 15 to 20 knots gusting 30mph.
We have a high tide at 10:39 a.m., low tide will be at 4:50 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 12.5 feet at 9 seconds in a high-angled east/north-east wind swell.
Again, surf showing up to shoulder high this mornings high tide. It is extremely windy and drifty out there but looks fun if you want to put in the work. This trend should continue into early work week, winds should eventually taper off on Tuesday. We are watching a potential low begin to spin in the gulf of Mexico and push off central florida coast. If that happens look for swell to rotate more favorable from the south we will keep you updated.
Your NOAA Marine Weather forecast for our area calls for: “Low pressure will move farther off the coast today as dry high pressure builds from the northwest. Gulf low pressure could affect the area Thursday through Friday.”
It’s 55* with showers in the aera. Look for the weather to stay the same, with tappering off with strong winds forecasted.
Water temperature is back up to 70 after all this warm weather. Expect it to go back down after the big north-east blow next week.
Sunrise is at 7:01 a.m., and sunset will be at 7:43 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
