Good morning, this is Brad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Sunday, August 1 at 8:30 a.m.
Surf at the Washout this morning is waist high, with occasional larger sets rolling in.
Winds are south-west at 10-15 knots and conditions are still semi-glassy. Surf is dumpy, shallow, and has decent potential for some fun little runs with the incoming high tide.
Look for south-westerly winds increasing this afternoon at 15 to 20 knots. Hopefully this won’t chop the wave up too much, but it likely will.
We are coming off a low tide this morning at 8:47 a.m., high tide will be at 3:20 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 4.9 ft at 6 seconds in a building, short period south wind swell.
Waves should be picking up some late day in a rideable, semi-choppy south-west wind swell. South-west winds will be prevalent into early next work week. We see small, choppy, south-west wind waves in the forecast. This small south-west wind swell carries into the work week, with waves averaging thigh high with a bigger set in drifty conditions as a cold front stalls near our marine area. If you’re looking for a quick ride with a fast slab, you might want to give it a shot this morning before the wind picks up.
Your National Weather Service Marine Weather Forecast for our area calls for: “Weak low pressure along a stationary front will keep unsettled weather across the area through next week.
We have sun this morning. It’s 81*. Look for a very hot, humid day with a high of 90* and sunny skies today. There is an excessive heat warning in effect.
Water temperature is around 85*.
Sunrise is at 6:35 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:18 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
