Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Sunday, August 7 at 8:30 a.m.
Waves at Folly this morning are flat. Maybe ankle high.
Winds are north-east at 5 knots, and surf zone is fairly clean this morning.
Look for winds to rotate south-east at 5 to 8 knots this afternoon, and surf-zone will get a little bumpy this afternoon, but not much surf to bump up.
Low tide is at 9:37 a.m., and high tide is at 4:20 p.m. (yeah, buddy!) The next low tide at 10:46 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading a very small 1.6 feet at 6 seconds in a short period south-east wind swell.
We should see an uptick in small trade-wind swell for the early-to-middle part of the work week as high pressure sets up off the mid-Atlantic states. Certainly nothing to post on your pro-style social media pages, but maybe a longboard glide. We are still keeping an eye on the tropics. There is a spot to watch coming off the African coastline, but it is way, way too far our to say if it will develop or move into our swell window. Maybe something to watch late next week.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “High pressure will extend across the region into the week. A cold front could approach from the north by the end of this week.”
It’s 81* with sunshine this morning. Look for a high of 86* with sun and passing clouds this afternoon. There is a slight chance for a thunderstorm with the late day heating.
Water Temperature is about as hot as it gets. It’s around 86*.
Sunrise is at 6:38 a.m., and sunset will be at 8:11 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
