Good morning, this is Brad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Sunday, August 8th at 8:30 a.m.
Surf at the Washout this morning is thigh-to-waist high. Maybe a slightly larger set.
Winds are west-north-west at 0 to 5 knots. Surf is a little bumpy, but there are some soft lines to be had at the higher-tide this morning. The sets waves look to be setting up some fun runs to the inside. Bring a bigger board for a fun session if you decide to hit it this morning.
Look for winds to remain 0-5 knots through mid-morning, rotating south-east at 5-10 knots this afternoon. We see bumpier surf for afternoon.
We are coming off a high tide at 8:29 a.m. We have a low tide at 2:26 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 2.6 ft at 7.7 seconds in a medium period south-east ground swell mixed with a short -period wind swell from the south-east.
This morning looks like a great beginner day if you need to get wet and some practice runs. It looks like you’ll definitely need a bigger board, unless you weigh <90lbs. This afternoon has seems like it’ll maintain similar conditions with the incoming high tide if you don’t mind some bump in the surf, but your best bet is right now before it gets drained out and windy. There are several tropical systems forming in the Central and Western Atlantic that could turn into something more significant around a week to 10 days out. We’ll keep an eye on it. Let’s hope for some more juice on the horizon.
Your National Weather Service Marine Weather Forecast for our area calls for: “High pressure will prevail across the area through much of the week.
We have lots of sun this morning. It’s currently 79*. Look for a high of 84* and plenty of sun. Make sure to wear that sunscreen.
Water temperature is around 83*.
Sunrise is at 6:40 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:11 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
