Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Sunday, February 16, 2020 at 8 a.m.
All of our full-suits in the shop are now on sale. Come see if we have something that fits you while the selection is still good.
Surf at Folly this morning running knee-to-thigh high at the lower tide this morning. It looks like it has potential to build just a bit as the tide comes in.
Winds are from the north-north/east at around 10 knots, putting some texture and drift to the surf.
Look for winds to drop off some this afternoon, going north-east at 5 to 10 knots.
We have at low tide this morning, and high tide will be at 1:48 p.m. The next low tide will be at 7:59 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 3 ft. at 10 seconds in an east/south-east long period swell with an easterly wind-swell reading approximately 5 ft. at 5 seconds.
We have a little bit of mixed direction swell as the tide comes in this morning, and this should continue today, with surf averaging thigh-to-waist high. Best for your high-volume stick. We see another disturbance off-shore overnight into Monday morning. This should push up some bigger southerly wind swell to start the work week. Winds go south-west on Tuesday, and we see building south wind swell ahead of a cold front Tuesday into Wednesday morning. Winds should not be too strong for Monday and Tuesday, so hopefully we’ll have a little surf to ride. Late week sees a strong cold front move through, and we’ll have strong north-east winds and bigger north east wind swell for Thursday and Friday of next week.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “High pressure will remain north of the area through Monday as weak low pressure moves along a nearly stationary front off the coast. A warm front will lift north through the region Monday night into Tuesday, before a cold front crosses the area on Wednesday. Chilly high pressure build in for late week.”
It’s 51* and is partly cloudy this morning. Look for a high of 61* and we see clouds with a chance of rain for afternoon as low pressure develops near our marine area later today.
Water temperature is 58*.
Sunrise is at 7:01 a.m. and sunset will be at 6:05 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
