Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Sunday, February 21 at 8:30 a.m.

We finally have a fresh stock of SofTech softboards and all sizes of body boards back in the shop. Come check them out and get ready for spring-time surf before they sell out again.

Surf at The Washout is knee to thigh-high at the low tide this morning in a building north-easterly wind swell.

Winds are north-east at 20 to 25 knots and surf is very drifty, very choppy, cold and weak.

Look for winds to switch east today at 15 to 18 knots, and surf should be choppy and drifty all day.

Low tide is at 9 a.m., and high tide is at 3:03 p.m. and we have a low tide at 8:57 p.m.

Virtual buoy readings are showing 2.2 ft. at 9 seconds in a medium-period south-east swell.

We see choppy easterly wind swell building some this afternoon with drifty, choppy conditions and plenty of easterly angle on it. Best hope for meaningful surf is on Monday, when winds come south, then south-west, making for bigger, choppy south wind swell for Monday. Winds come strong from the west overnight Monday after a cold front passage, and surf drop and clean up some on Tuesday. Surf falls out mid-week, but the beach weather should be really nice for the middle of next week. Should be a nice change after all the rain.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “High pressure will build into the area through the weekend. A cold front is forecasted to move through on Monday, followed by a return of high pressure.”

It is 44* this morning with plentiful sunshine. Look for a nice day with sun and a high of 50*.

Water temperature is 52*.

Sunrise is at 6:56 a.m. and sunset will be at 6:09 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
