Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Sunday, February 23, at 8:30 a.m.

Surf at Folly this morning is running knee-to-thigh high. There is a waist set here and there. It’s soft at the higher tide and breaking up on the beach, but it is fairly clean.  It could get better form as the tide goes out.

Winds are moderate out of the north at 5 to 10 knots.

Look variable winds today, coming south late day at 10 knots. We see a fairly clean surf zone today.

We had a high tide at 7:48 a.m., and we’ll see a low tide at 1:49 p.m. The next high tide will be at 7:52 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 4.3 ft. at 10 seconds in a long-period swell, and a lot of it is headed past our beaches to points south.

We should expect small, mixed easterly swell with not too much wind today, so break out the long-board if you want to glide a few. Surf to start the work week looks smaller, but we do expect south wind swell to increase late Monday into Tuesday as a warm front lifts north, then a pair of cold fronts approach for Tuesday, pushing up a south wind swell, with south-west winds increasing by Tuesday into Wednesday. Late week, high pressure and off-shore winds should blow down the surf as the temperature drops again after a cold front, but there could be some waves Tuesday and Wednesday, so look forward to that.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “High pressure will persist through tonight. A warm front will lift north of the region on Monday, followed by a pair of cold fronts during the middle of the week. High pressure returns Thursday and Friday, with another cold front expected on Saturday.”

It’s a chilly 38* and sunny this morning. Look for things to warm up with a nice winter beach day on tap and a high of around 59* with plenty sunshine at Folly.

Water temperature dropped to 54* again with the cold snap.

Sunrise is at 6:53 a.m. and sunset will be at 6:11 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
