Good morning this is Bates with you Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Sunday, February 12 at 8:30 a.m.
Surf at Folly is running about stomach to chest high with head high sets.
Winds are west at 10 to 15 knots with a higher gust. It’s side-shore, but it looks like a lot of fun this morning.
We expect to continue westerly and increase at 15 to 20 with a higher gust. Hopefully it’s doesn’t blow out the surf, but as the tide comes in this morning, it looks really good.
High tide is at 11:44 a.m., and low tide will be at 6 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 10 feet at 7 seconds in a south/south-west wind swell.
We have fun surf in the water as a low-pressure system departs our marine area, and south wind swell fills in. Winds are side-shore, westerly today, so hopefully the surf will hold for most of your Sunday without too much wind. Winds are predicted offshore on Monday, but it’ll be blowing around 20 knots on average. Surf should get beat down for mid-week. Next swell shows Thursday and Friday of next week as a cold front approaches our marine aera.
The NOAA Marine Weather forecast for our area calls for: “A low pressure system will depart to the northeast today. High pressure will then prevail through the middle of the week before a cold front arrives during the upcoming weekend. High pressure will then return late weekend and persist into early next week.”
It’s 56* and sunny this morning. Look for some showers later this morning before we see some clouds this afternoon.
Water temperature is 57*.
Sunrise is at 7:06 a.m., and sunset will be at 6:01 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
