Good morning, this is Brad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Sunday, February 14 at 8:30 a.m.
Happy Valentine’s Day Everyone! We’ve got wet-suits jackets in the shop for spring. Yes, it’s cold, but come by and get one while they are still available. Wetsuit gear has been going fast.
Surf at The Washout is knee high with a slightly bigger set, potentially in that waist to stomach high range.
Winds are north-north-east at 5 to 10 knots, and surf is slightly side-shore and semi-choppy, but is holding its form. It’s a bit weak at the incoming high tide this morning.
High tide is at 9:57 a.m. and we have a low tide at 3:40 p.m.
Virtual buoy readings are showing 3.2 ft. at 5 seconds in a short-period north-east wind swell, with a small south-easterly ground swell component.
We have slightly angled north-east wind swell in the water this morning with raw conditions at the beach. Bring your full wetsuit kit if you want to surf today. Surf should pick up some Tuesday as swell is forecasted to move more on-shore from a south-easterly direction today as low pressure passes off-shore along a frontal boundary. Surf continues into Monday, then picks up Tuesday as winds go south-west ahead of another cold front. So, if you are into some cold surf, might be a few to ride for the next few days. Another storm system follows with more south wind swell late week. Keep an eye on Thursday and Friday for our best chance of size.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “A wedge of high pressure will persist inland through early Monday, while waves of low pressure pass along a stalled front lingering nearby. A cold front will pass through the area early Tuesday, followed by another storm system late next week.”
It is cold, cloudy and rainy at the beach. It’s 45*. Look for a high of 46* and rain this afternoon.
Water temperature is 53*.
Sunrise is at 7:02 a.m. and sunset will be at 6:05 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
