Sunday. February 17. The Washout

Choppy & Drifty

Time of Report: 8:30 a.m.
Wave Forecast: knee to thigh
Traffic: none for now
Parking: plenty
Dangers: chilly!

Good morning, this is Brett with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Sunday, February 17 at 8:30 a.m.

New Spring 2019 Beater Boards and Odysea Boards have arrived. Come see what’s new from Catch Surf.

Waves at the Washout this morning are knee-to-thigh high. The tide is going out, which isn’t currently helping the size, but it could pick up some later today as the tide comes in.

Winds are North East at 18 knots, hopefully decreasing to East North/East at 8 knots this afternoon. Surf has chop in it, and should all day.

Low tide is at 11:58 a.m., and high tide will be at 6:07 p.m.

The Edisto buoy is reading a 5.6ft at 6.2 seconds in a predominantly East North/East wind swell, with a West swell 5.6 ft. at 13 seconds.

We have some East North/East wind swell in the water today with choppy conditions expected throughout the day as the tide comes in and wind average 10 – 15 knots. Surf should build this afternoon in choppy conditions, averaging waist to stomach high. Small, rotating wind-swell will be the call this week as frontal systems effect our marine area thought the week.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A series of frontal systems will affect the area through much of next week.”

It’s 51* and raining this morning. Expect a high of 62* and potentially some rain today.
Water temperature is around 56*.
Sunrise is around 7:00 a.m. and sunset will be at 6:06 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
