Good morning, this is Brad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Sunday, January 24 at 8:30 a.m.
Surf at Folly is ankle to knee high, putting out a lackluster longboard-able wave.
Winds are north/north-east at 5-10 knots, and surf is somewhat side-shore, semi-clean, weak and not good.
Look for winds rotating more easterly this afternoon and remaining around 8 knots. Surf should be small and semi-choppy this afternoon given these forecasted conditions.
We have a low tide at 10:37 a.m., and a high tide will be at 4:40 p.m.
The virtual buoy is reading 2.6ft at 4s in a short period, east-northeast wind swell.
For now, there is not much hope for meaningful surf today with no swell off-shore. It should be expected that this flat spell continue into Monday morning. Surf may pick up significantly in south/south-west wind swell late afternoon Monday into Tuesday, as a cold front moves into our area to start the work week. Another storm system effects our marine area on Thursday, but this system seems less promising based on current forecast models. So next week, we might get some surf.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “High pressure will prevail through the weekend. A cold front will impact the region Tuesday, followed by another storm system mid-week. High pressure will return late week.”
It is 46* with sun this morning. Look for a high of 57* and sun this afternoon.
Water temperature is 55*.
Sunrise is at 7:18 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:45 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
