Textured, semi-choppy

Time of Report: 8:30 AM
Wave Forecast: Waist-Stomach
Traffic: None
Parking: Plenty
Dangers: None

Good morning, this is Brad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Sunday, January 3 2021 at 8:30 a.m.

We will be open for regular operating hours today, so come on by and see us if you’re headed out for a surf.

Surf at Folly this morning is waist-to-stomach high with some slight texture.

Winds are west/south-west at 15-20 knots, and surf still maintains some good form, despite added texture, early this morning. It will get more soft at the higher tide, but it looks decently fun this morning.

Look for winds to remain constant out of the south-west this afternoon at 20+ knots with a higher gust, and surf should get choppy this afternoon.

We have a high-tide at 10:34 a.m., and a low tide at 4:53 p.m.

Virtual buoy data is reading 3.9ft at 6 seconds in a short-period south wind swell.

As a cold front passed our marine area yesterday we see west, south-west winds throughout the day. This should bring textured conditions this afternoon. Not too much surf moving into the work week, as it looks to remain small throughout.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “A cold front will approach the area today before moving through tonight. High pressure will then prevail Sunday through the middle of next week before a low pressure system passes across the area during the second half of next week.”

It is a warm 60* at the beach this morning with cloudy skies and consistent wind. We expect a high of 64* with cloudy skies this afternoon.

Water temperature has bumped back up to 56*.

Sunrise is at 7:22 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:27 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
