Semi-choppy/choppy

Time of Report: 8:30
Wave Forecast: Waist high w/ occ. larger sets
Traffic: None
Parking: Lots
Dangers: None

Good morning, this is Brad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Sunday, January 31 at 8:30 a.m.

We just received a shipment of new Smith sunglasses. Come check them out.

Surf at Folly is waist high, with occasional larger sets rolling through.

Winds are south/south-west at 15 to 20 knots, and surf zone is fairly choppy and a bit drifty down the beach.

Look for winds to remain SSW this afternoon maintaining similar speed, which will keep the surf zone choppy and textured.

High tide is at 9:33 a.m., and low tide is at 3:46 p.m.

The virtual buoy is reading 4.1 ft at 5 seconds in a short-period south-east swell, which is passing by our beaches.

We do see building, choppy south wind-swell today ahead of another cold front, cleaning up and fading into Monday afternoon, as high pressure builds in to start your work week. Monday could have some fun, cold, clean waves, as winds go off-shore and swell begins to fade. Surf looks smaller into mid-week as high pressure sets up.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “A cold front will move through our area tonight. High pressure will then steadily build into the region through the middle of the week. Another front is possible next weekend.”

It is windy and warm this morning, with temperatures around 61* at the beach. There is lots of sun, and we see a high of 64* today.  Pretty nice beach weather, without all the wind.

Water temperature is 54*.

Sunrise is at 7:14 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:52 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
