Good morning this is Chad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Sunday, July 15th at 8:30 a.m.
Coming to you from the Washout, waves have picked up a little and running waist-stomach. The wind has rotated a little more westerly cleaning up the faces some.
Winds are west/south-west at 7-10 knots, and surf zone is somewhat clean but has little side shore chop on it and a slight drift up the beach.
Winds will increase out of the south-west today to 10-15 knots and gusty. If it keeps more westerly may be some spots that will be good as the tide drops.
We are coming off a high tide at 7:31 a.m. Low tide will be at 1:38 p.m., and the next high tide will be at 7:58 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 4.6 feet at 5.9 seconds in a south/south-west wind swell.
We have a slightly choppy morning of surf with somewhat clean faces running around waist-stomach high. This could continue into Monday. We have a new development in Subtropical Storm Don. It’s pretty far out there in the middle of the ocean and will be hanging out for a while as it loops around. We could see a small, home-grown low-pressure system develop off the south-eastern coast MAYBE next week, with moderate to strong south-west winds still prevailing. This could push up a little choppy swell for next week.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “A surface trough will prevail inland today, followed by a stationary front remaining just to our north through midweek. Atlantic High pressure will persist offshore this week.”
Water temperature is around 85*
It’s 83* sunny and breezy. Expect sunny and hot today with a high of 89* and a heat index around 104* Stay hydrated!
Sunrise is at 6:22 a.m., and sunset will be at 8:28 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
