Good morning, this is Brad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Sunday, July 25 at 8:30 a.m.
We just received a big shipment of new Epoxy Orion surfboards from Greg Geiselman. Come get ready for hurricane season with a new stick.
Surf at the Washout this morning is knee-to-thigh high with a slightly larger set wave in a weak, semi-glassy north-east wind swell. Best for the bigger board for sure, but set waves are lining up with potential for a fish or groveler.
Winds are north-east at 8-10 knots.
Look for easterly winds to remain around 10 knots this afternoon. We see slightly increasing, side-shore north-easterly wind chop to build this afternoon, but surf should remain with the incoming high through mid-morning into the afternoon.
We have a high tide at 9:40 a.m.. Low tide will be at 3:32 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 2.8 ft at 6 seconds in an east/south-east wind swell.
We see a north-east wind swell pick up this afternoon and over the weekend as a tropical low lingers off-shore near the Georgia/Florida border along a stalled frontal boundary. There is a slight chance of tropical development according to the National Hurricane Center. With high pressure to our north, this should keep some wind and some drifty, high-angled easterly wind-swell in the forecast throughout the day.
Your National Weather Service Marine Weather Forecast for our area calls for: “High pressure will be far to the northeast while a weak low moves towards Florida through tonight. Then, a typical summer pattern will prevail with high pressure in the Atlantic and weak low pressure inland.”
It’s sunny and 77*. Look for a high of 84* today with partly sunny skies.
Water temperature is around 84*.
Sunrise is at 6:30 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:23 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
