Good morning, this is Brad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Sunday, June 27 at 8:30 a.m.
We have some good-looking new twin sets back in stock from Futures Fins. Come check them out.
Surf at Folly is thigh-waist high. There is an occasional bigger set, but it’s soft and bumpy at the morning’s high tide. Best for a higher-volume board, but still rideable with a high performance short board if you find the right spot.
Winds are east at 8 knots, and surf zone is bumpy and textured, but manageable with some organization in the sets rolling in.
Look for winds to switch east, north-east this afternoon at 10 knots, likely to cause a drop in wave quality due to a more onshore wind.
We have a high tide at 10:52 a.m., and low tide will be at 4:42 p.m.
There is some longboard and grovel surf out there this morning. It’s bumpy and textured, with an occasional nice set wave. It’s definitely rideable if you need to get wet and enjoy the sun. Look for weaker surf this afternoon as winds switch up onshore. We see bigger surf start to build late day, with a small trade wind style ground-swell and continuing into next week as high pressure sets up on-shore flow into early next week. Winds trend north-east for the period, and surf should be bumpy and side-shore into the early part of this work week. There are several tropical waves of note in the Western and Central Atlantic. Not much development possible, but these systems can add to our on-shore flow and push up some small summer swells.
Your National Weather Service Marine Weather Forecast for our area calls for: “High pressure will prevail today. Weak low pressure over the Atlantic will move onshore across South Carolina or Georgia late Monday. Atlantic high pressure will then generally prevail through late week.”
It’s 79* and sunny at the beach this morning. Look for a high of 82* and sunny skies for the remainder of this afternoon.
Water temperature is around 83*.
Sunrise is at 6:15 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:32 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
