Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report for Sunday, June 5 at 8:30 a.m.

We just received a shipment of Catch Surf Logs in the 7’0” and 8’0” range, and it’s likely to be some of the last ones we get this summer, so come check it out. We have a great selection.

Surf at The Washout this morning is waist-to-stomach high with a chest high set. It looks fun this morning and should get better as the tide pulls in, before the wind gets on it later today.

Winds are north/north-east at 10 to 15 knots, and surf-zone is side-shore and semi-clean with a slight current drifting down the beach. Overall it looks pretty fun as Tropical Storm Alex is just in our swell window. The storm is off to the north-east through Monday.

Look for winds from the north-east at 15 to 20 knots later today, and we see a choppy surf zone this afternoon with some drift down the beach.

Tide is coming in. h=High tide will be at 12:41 pm. The next low tide will be at 6:28 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 5.9 feet at 5 seconds in a south-east wind swell, with a smaller south ground  swell  2.3 feet at 8 seconds.

We have fun surf for your Sunday. Today, we’ll see north-east winds and short-period south/south-east wind swell showing at the beach from what it now Tropical Storm Alex off the Carolina coast. Wind should die some Monday, leaving some fun leftovers. Best guess is Monday perhaps being the best of the two days with less easterly wind, especially late Monday morning as the tide moves in. Look for some ground swell leftovers as high pressure pushes in a small trade-wind swell for mid-week.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “A stationary front will linger offshore today, and keeps Tropical Storm Alex far off the Georgia and South Carolina coasts as it moves northeast. High pressure will then prevail into the middle of the week. A cold front could stall over the region late week.”

It’s 75* and sunny.  Look for a high of 70* with a chance for thunderstorms later today.

Water Temperature is around 82*.

Sunrise is at 6:11 a.m., and sunset will be at 8:25 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
