Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Sunday, June 7 at 8:30 a.m.
Waves at Folly this morning are knee-high. Occ. thigh high. It is soft at the morning’s high tide in a south wind swell, but looks ridable for the long-board, and could get punchier as the tide drops.
Winds are light and variable, and surf zone is nice and clean.
Winds are forecast south-westerly at 10 to 15 knots in the afternoon. This should build south-west wind waves and add a side-shore chop to the surf.
We have a high tide at 9:43 a.m., and a low tide at 3:43 p.m. Tide will be coming in until after dark.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 1 ft. at 6 seconds in a medium-period, south-east swell, with a small short period south-west wind swell 2 ft at 4 seconds.
Look for surf to build a bit in choppy, south/south-west wind swell this afternoon as a cold-front approaches and lingers in our marine area early in the work week. We should see pretty small south-west wind waves to start the work week. Tropical Storm Cristobal has formed in the southern Gulf of Mexico. It is predicted to move north into Louisiana coast this evening.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A cold front will stall north of our area late today and tonight, then gradually dissipate through the middle of the week. Another cold front should approach the area Thursday, then stall over or near the region into the weekend.”
It’s 77* and cloudy this morning. Look for a high of 80* today with some clouds and a slight chance of showers on-and-off today.
Water temperature is around 79*.
Sunrise is at 6:10 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:25 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
