Waves at Folly this morning are in the waist-to-chest. There are head high sets in ground-swell lines from tropical storm Arthur, which formed overnight.

Winds are north/north-east at 15 knots, and surf is side-shore and getting choppy in ground swell lines. There is a drift, north-to-south, down the beach.

Look for increasing north-easterly winds at 15 to 20 grinding up groundswell surf for afternoon.

We have a low tide at 10:56a.m., and a high tide will be at 5:15 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 7 ft. at 9 seconds in an east/south-east ground swell. Plenty of swell at the buoy, and we will have some surf all day.

Tropical storm Arthur formed overnight. The storm is south-west of our shores. The storm will send surf in for today as it heads for the Outer Banks. Winds will pick up north-east this afternoon, with a possible quick clean up for Monday morning as the swell begins to fade, and Arthur moves out of our swell window. We see more south-east wind swell fill in Tuesday as an upper-level low lingers off-shore.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “Tropical Storm Arthur will remain east of the area as it moves toward the North Carolina Outer Banks Monday. Upper level low pressure will linger west of the area for much of next week, then high pressure will build in next weekend. Refer to the latest advisory on Tropical Storm Arthur issued by the National Hurricane Center.”

It’s 75 today with sun this morning. Look for a high of 79 with sun and a chance for an afternoon thunderstorm.
