Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Sunday, May 2 at 8:30 a.m.

We have our rental wetsuits marked down at low prices if you want to come snag a suit for cheap.

Surf at The Washout this morning is around knee-to-thigh high at the lower tide this morning.  Probably ridable on the longboard if you need to get wet.

Winds are south/south-east at 5 knots, and surf is semi-choppy.

Look for winds to increase from the south this afternoon at 10 to 15 knots. We see choppy, weak, south wind swell for afternoon.

Tide is coming in, and high tide will be at 1:14 p.m. Low tide will be at 7:14 p.m.

Virtual buoy readings are showing 1.8 ft. at 5 seconds in a mixed period south-east wind-swell/swell.

There are a few small long-board wave out here should you feel the need to get wet. Look for choppy south-east wind swell this afternoon. We should see some trade-wind style swell build Tuesday and into the middle part of next week as onshore flow increases from the south.  Nothing too big, but hopefully something fun and rideable for the middle of next week.

Your National Weather Service Marine Weather forecast calls for: “High pressure will extend across the region through the weekend. A series of storm systems will bring unsettled weather for portions of next week. A cold front may shift offshore late week bringing an end to the unsettled weather.”

It’s a beautiful, sunny 66* this morning. Look for a great beach day – if not a bit windy – with a high of 69* and sun today.

Water temperature is up to around 71*. It’ll be going up a few degrees this week.

Sunrise is at 6:30 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:02 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
