Good morning this is Luke with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Sunday, May 21 at 8:45a.m.
Surf is around knee high and weak this morning. Could push a log but don’t expect much.
Winds are dead calm and the surf is a sheet of glass. Winds will eventually trend Easterly today but remain light 5-10mph.
We had a high tide around 9:56 a.m., and low tide is at 3:52 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 2.3 feet at 8 seconds in medium period ENE swell.
Surfs lost its steam showing knee high this Sunday morning. It could have enough to get a longboard moving. This weeks forecast is extremely difficult. A front pushes through later today and looks to stall over the SE coastal region bringing unstable weather. A high pressure will sit just north bringing hard north-east winds which could give us some drifty NE wind-swell early to mid-week. But were also seeing models suggest a weak low pressure system to develop mid-week just east of the Bahamas that could also send us a small pulse of SE ground-swell. Late week models also are showing another low to develop over central Florida and eventually push off their coastline and could generate another ESE swell. There is plenty of uncertainty and I’m positive these models will shift and change with every update. Keep your eyes on it I think this week we could have some windows of glory just be patient. I could also just be seeing things from all the fun at @hedhistudio last night.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “A cold front will drop through the area today, then stall just to the south through Tuesday as high pressure builds in from the north. High pressure will strengthen over the area mid to late week.”
Its 70* and partly cloudy this morning. Look for some possible afternoon showers/thunderstorms to develop. 77*.
Water temperature is 75*.
Sunrise is at 6:19 a.m., and sunset will be at 8:14 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
