Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Sunday, May 22 at 8:45 a.m.
Waves at The Washout this morning are knee-to-thigh high in a short period south wind swell. It should push a waist high set as the tide comes in later this morning, but we do expect south-west winds chopping things up this afternoon.
Winds are west/south-west at 10 knots. Surf is side-shore and semi-choppy if not a little crossed up.
Looking for winds to come out of the south-west at 10 to 15 with gusts to 20 this afternoon. We see a choppy surf zone later today with some drift up the beach.
Low tide will be at 8:06 a.m., and high tide will e at 2:20 p.m. The next low tide will be at 8:21 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 3.3 feet at 5 seconds out of south in a short period wind swell.
We should see a small, semi-choppy but rideable wave as the tide comes in mid-morning. Folly continues to see small south-west wind swell for the majority of the work week. Likely long-boadable with hot weather, but nothing spectacular this week. South wind swell could pick up some on Thursday, but we’ll keep you updated on the forecast.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “Warm and humid conditions along with a few fronts will keep unsettled weather across the area much of the week. Drier conditions could return next weekend behind a cold front.”
It’s 77* and overcast this morning. Look for a mix of clouds today with a high of 79* and a 40% chance of a shower or thunderstorm today.
Water Temperature is still around 78*. Here comes the bathwater.
Sunrise is at 6:16 a.m., and sunset will be at 8:16 p.m.
