Good morning, this is Brad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Sunday, May 30 at 8:30 a.m.
We will move into summer hours this weekend, opened from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. every day but Sunday, when we close at 5 p.m. We will close at 5 p.m. Memorial Day.
Surf at The Washout this morning is about thigh-to-waist high with occasional larger sets rolling in.
Winds are north-west at 5 to 10 knots, and surf is holding form nicely, with power and minimal drift.
Winds are going to decrease from the north, north-west today at 5 knots. We see glassier north-west wind swell today, hopefully holding it’s form into the afternoon. Unfortunately the wind is knocking away some of the power, but there are a couple gem sets in the lineup.
We have a high tide at 12:08 p.m., and a low tide at 5:56 p.m.
Surf cleans up and drops rapidly this morning on the incoming tide, so make sure you get out there while there’s still a little leftover swell with the more favorable wind direction. Expect surf to continue in the knee-to-thigh high for Memorial Day, as winds shift moderate from the north-east. Mid-week we should see another high pressure move into the area, accompanied by what looks to be a south-east swell. Let’s hope for a little more wave mid-week! We will keep you posted as the forecast develops.
Your National Weather Service Marine Weather forecast calls for: “High pressure will prevail through mid week. Unsettled weather is then likely later in the week.”
It is 66* and sunny. Look for a high of 75* this afternoon. It should be a great day to catch some rays if the wind continues to drop in the afternoon.
Water temperature is around 78*.
Sunrise is at 6:13 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:22 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
