Good morning, this is Luke with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Sunday, May 30 at 7:00 a.m.

The City of Folly Beach is now open. Social distancing rules will be enforced. Please see the City of Folly Beach’s Web Site for more information.

We will be open from 9:15 a.m. until 6 p.m. Please follow social distancing protocols when shopping.

Waves at Folly this morning are knee-thigh high. Similar to yesterday enough for the high volume boards and perfect conditions to learn.

Winds are light and variable this morning making for clean surface conditions.

Winds are forecasted to turn out of the NE and pick up into the 10-15 mph range and at some chop to the surf later today.

Low tide is this morning at 9:40 am high tide to follow at 4:07

The Edisto Buoy is reading 3.0 ft at 8 seconds in a ESE swell.

Surf looks kinda fun for the logs this Sunday morning if your patient they are out there. Sets showing thigh high peelers and very clean early. Look for onshore winds to increase around mid-day. This small swell slowly fades the remainder of the weekend. Looking ahead a strong low pushes off the North-East coast pushing a decent NE swell into the Atlantic. Unfortunately for us it will have to much north in it and miss us heading to Florida. If you have time Monday-Tuesday to make the trip south that would be your option. Otherwise the surf in our area does look to be weak this week. That low in the central Atlantic has lost its steam and now has a 0% chance of development. Long term models are still showing a decent low develop in the gulf. We will keep you posted.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A cold front will move through the area early this morning, followed by high pressure that will then prevail through much of the week.”

It’s 80 degrees with sun mixed with clouds this morning beautiful day. Look for a high of 83 degrees with a chance of thunderstorms developing later afternoon.

Water temperature is around 78*.  Back to boardies and bikinis.
