Good morning this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Sunday, November 6 at 8:30 a.m.
Remember to set your clocks back an hour. Longer morning sessions, shorter afternoon sessions.
Waves at The Washout this morning are waist to stomach high with chest sets.
Winds are south-east at 5 to 8 knots, and surf is semi-choppy to choppy, but there is some fun surf if you are game for it.
Look for south-east winds at 10 to 12 knots today, and we see a semi-choppy/choppy surf zone all day.
Tide is going out. Low tide is at 12:06 p.m., and the next high tide will be at 6:16 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 4.3 feet at 6 seconds in a short period easterly wind swell, and most swell is passing by our beaches.
A coastal storm begins to develop off-shore of our marine area for much of the upcoming work week. This low pressure, with high pressure situated to our north, should continue to significantly increase east/north-east flow and increase our wave size building significantly into the work week. Look for choppy, drifty condition on this upcoming swell as winds will trend east to north-east at around 15 knots. Should be plenty of size on the swell Monday through Thursday. Something to keep an eye on for sure. If the winds trend more north, perhaps the swell will be side-shore and cleaner.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “High pressure will prevail into the early part of the week. Low pressure that develops in the Atlantic could impact the area during the middle and latter portion of this week.”
Water temperature is running around 68*
It’s warm and sunny at the beach. It’s 74*/ Look for a high of 78* and sun all day.
Sunrise is at 7:40 a.m., and sunset will be at 6:36 p.m.
