Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Sunday, October 11 at 7:30 a.m.
Surf at Folly is waist to stomach high and could improve some late morning on the incoming tide push.
Winds are south/south-east at 5 knots, and surf has some bump, but there are some clean sections. It’s closing out at the lower tide this morning, but It shows promise for the incoming tide late morning.
Look for winds to remain from the south-east today at around 10 knots. We see semi-choppy surf this afternoon.
We have a low tide at 9 a.m., and a high tide will be at 3:35 p.m. The next low tide is at 10:04 p.m.
Edisto Buoy is down. Surfline showing 5.4 ft at 6 seconds in SE swell. With all this on-shore flow, there should be plenty of swell out in the ocean, with a good direction for Folly Beach.
Surf has cleaned up some this morning after yesterday’s strong on-shore winds, and looks promising for the incoming tide push late-morning, with a chest-high set possible and bumpy conditions. Onshore flow should hold to start the work week. This swell starts to fade some Tuesday and into mid-week. We also have a low in the Eastern Atlantic starting to fire up as it approaches the Lesser Antilles. This low has got a rough road ahead, but it’s something to keep an eye on in the tropics.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “The remnants of Hurricane Delta will track northwest and eventually north of the area through Monday. A cold front will push offshore Tuesday night with high pressure prevailing through the remainder of the week. A secondary cold front will then approach the area on Friday.”
It’s 74* with sun at the beach this morning. Look for clouds on and off, but overall a pretty nice day. With a high of 80* and a 20% chance of a shower.
Water temperature is 73*.
Sunrise is at 7:16 a.m. and sunset will be at 6:58 p.m.
