Good morning this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Sunday, October 16 at 8:30 a.m.

Waves at The Washout this morning are knee high. Bring the log if you want to catch a small glide.

Winds are west/north-west at 5 to 8 knots, and surf zone is clean.

Look for west winds at 5 knots, and a clean surf zone until late day, when winds come south at 10 knots.

Tide is coming in this morning. High tide will be at 1:10 p.m. and low tide will be at 7:37 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 2.3 feet at 10 seconds in a long period easterly swell, most of which is moving past our beaches.

We have offshore flow and small surf today. There could be a quick shot of small, low-quality south-west wind swell  Monday ahead of a stronger cold front, but it’s probably not worth mentioning. Expect smaller surf for most of next week, after a strong cold front passage.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “High pressure over the area will move offshore tonight. A strong cold front will move through the region Monday night, followed by cool high pressure into next weekend.”

Water temperature is running around 72*.

It’s 63* with sun this morning. Look for a high of 76* and sun all day.  If this ain’t perfect beach weather, then what is?

Sunrise is at 7:24 a.m., and sunset will be at 6:45 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
