Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Sunday, October 24 at 8:30 a.m.

Surf at the Washout is actually rideable today. At least for the longboard at the incoming tide.

Winds are west-north-west at 4 knots, and surf zone is relatively clean

Look for easterly winds this afternoon at 10 knots. This will add slight surface chop to the surf zone, and I imagine the surf will drop out on the lower tide with a little bit of wind on it.

High tide will be at 10:42 a.m., and low tide will be at 5:06 p.m.

The Edisto buoy is reading 2 feet at 7 seconds in a medium-period east/south-east swell.

We have a small, longboard-able, clean surf zone this morning with beautiful fall weather. This will likely drop out this afternoon on the lower tide with a little east wind keeping things semi-choppy. We look for surf to build into the knee-to-thigh high range for your Monday as a cold front approaches Monday night and winds come south-west. Surf will be choppy and weak, but maybe some wind-swell for the long-board early week.

Your National Weather Service Marine Weather Forecast for our area calls for: “High pressure will move off the mid-Atlantic coast through tonight. A cold front will pass through the area Monday night into early Tuesday, followed by high pressure through mid-week. A low pressure system is expected to impact the region late week and possibly into the weekend.”

It’s 66* and sunny.  Look for clouds passing in front of the sun today with a high of 78*.

Water temperature is 74*.

Sunrise is at 7:31 a.m. and sunset will be at 6:36 p.m.
