Good morning this is Bates, with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Sunday, October 29 at 9 a.m.
Surf at the Washout is running thigh-to-waist high with a stomach high set compliments of Post Tropical Cyclone Tammy. It is soft at the high tide. It looks fun, though. It’s nice and clean, and certainly good for the longboard.
Winds are slack this morning, and surf is nice and clean.
We look for south winds this afternoon at 10 knots, and surf-zone should see a little bump later today.
High tide was at 8:41 a.m. We’ll see the only low tide today at 3 p.m., and a high tide will be at 9:05 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 4 feet at 10 seconds in a long period easterly ground swell from Post Tropical Cyclone Tammy.
Still decent swell offshore, so we should have some waves today. Look for some southerly bump this afternoon. But it’s warm and beautiful at the beach, and there is something to ride. We see surf begin to fade overnight. We see pre-frontal south wind swell fill in Tuesday with south/south-west winds and choppy conditions. After a cold front passage Tuesday night, winds go strong north/north-east and blow swell past our beaches. Late week, we could see a low form off of a frontal boundary near our swell window, but it’s a ways off. We’ll keep you updated.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “ Dry high pressure will prevail through Monday night. A strong cold front will move through the region Tuesday, ushering in substantially cooler air. Cold high pressure will then prevail mid to late week.”
Water temperature is around 68*.
It’s beautiful this morning. It’s 67* with high clouds and sun. Look for sun and a high of 77* today. It’s a beautiful day to enjoy Folly.
Sunrise is at 7:32 a.m., and sunset will be at 6:35 p.m. Last light is right at 7:00 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
