Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Sunday, October 3 at 8:30 a.m.
Surf at the Washout is waist-to-stomach high this morning. It’s occasionally slightly larger.
Winds are east at 10 to 15 knots, and surf zone is choppy and has poor form. It’s drifty from north-to-south.
If you’re sleeping in, you’re not missing much this morning.
Look for winds to rotate more on-shore from the south-east at 10 to 15 knots this afternoon. Surf zone stays choppy today, but hopefully the south-east winds will improve the form for an afternoon session.
We have a low tide at 11:52 a.m., and a high tide at 6:13 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 3.6 feet at 11 seconds in a long period east/south-east swell compliments of Hurricane Sam.
We’re still seeing swell from Hurricane Sam this morning. It’s closing out some on the out-going tide, and swell looks to start fading out some late this afternoon. In any case, we should still have some rideable, choppy surf for the incoming tide later today. Surf gets smaller for Monday, but later in the work week it looks like we’ll get a home-grown low pressure off-shore which should kick the surf back up with choppy conditions as localized winds blow from the east/north-east.
Your National Weather Service Marine Weather Forecast for our area calls for: “High pressure will remain the primary feature through the weekend. A complex storm system will then bring periods of unsettled weather throughout most of next week.”
It’s a cloudy and 76* this morning with some rain showers in the area. Look for a high of 78* and sun coming out behind the clouds on and off this afternoon.
Water temperature is 79*.
Sunrise is at 7:15 a.m. and sunset will be at 7:01 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
