Clean early. Choppy.

Time of Report: 8:30 a.m.
Wave Forecast: Knee, slightly larger.
Traffic: Moderate.
Parking: Some.
Dangers: None.

Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Sunday, September 12 at 8:30 a.m.

Surf at the Washout is knee-high. Not too much bigger than that.

Winds are north-west at 5 knots, and surf zone is very clean. Just bring the longboard if you want to get wet.

Look for winds to go more north-east mid-morning at 10 knots, rotating easterly at 10 to 15 midafternoon. We see a choppy, side-shore surf zone later today.

We had a low tide around sun-rise this morning, and high tide is at 12:51 p.m. The next low tide will be at 7:08 p.m.

The Edisto buoy is reading 1.6 ft at 11 seconds in a long-period east/north-east swell with a north-east wind-swell 1.6 ft at 3 seconds.

Most of the north-east swell is moving past Folly, so we have small surf today and into the beginning of the work week with high-pressure setting up over our marine area. An area of low pressure is expected to form north of the Bahamas in a few days. This could be our next wave maker mid-week into late week. Something to keep an eye on for development.

Your National Weather Service Marine Weather Forecast for our area calls for: “High pressure will prevail through the middle of the week.”

It’s 72* this morning and sunny. Look for a high of 83* with plenty of sun all day.

Water temperature is around 83*.

Sunrise is at 7:01 a.m. and sunset will be at 7:29 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
