Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Sunday, September 18 at 8:30 a.m.

Surf at the Washout is knee high. It’s small this morning and doesn’t look inviting. At least the weather is nice.

Winds are north-east at 10 to 12 knots, and surf zone is side-shore, choppy and soft.

Look for easterly winds at 15 this afternoon with a higher gust. Surf zone will be choppy and drifty this afternoon.

We are coming off a high tide, and low tide will be at 1:18 p.m. The the next high tide will be at 7:47 p.m.

The Edisto buoy is reading 2.0 ft. at 11 seconds in a long period easterly swell, most of which is passing by our beaches and moving south.

We see increasing easterly wind swell in our forecast for early work week. It’ll likely still be small, but look for increasing high-angled wind chop to start the work week. Mid-week, swell should come more onshore from the south as a cold front approaches and swell from what is now Tropical Storm Peter begins to filter in at our beaches. Surf will likely get better mid-to-late week. But for now, just enjoy this beautiful beach weather. The fishing is good, too.

Your National Weather Service Marine Weather Forecast for our area calls for: “A wet weather pattern will prevail into the middle of the week. A cold front will move through the area Wednesday evening into early Thursday, followed by high pressure prevailing through the weekend.”

It’s 77* this morning and sunny with passing clouds. Look for a high of 82* with clouds this afternoon and a slight chance for a shower.

Water temperature is around 82*.

Sunrise is at 7:06 a.m. and sunset will be at 7:20 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
