Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Sunday, September 5 at 8:30 a.m.
We close at 5 p.m. today, and 5 p.m. on Labor Day. Have a great holiday weekend.
Surf at the Washout is knee-to-thigh high.
Winds are north at 5 knots, and surf zone is clean and weak. There’s a longboard glide if you’re into it, but it’s inconsistent.
Winds stay north/north-west this morning, and go south-east this afternoon. Look for some moderate surface chop on small surf later today.
Tide is going out. Low tide is at 1:08 p.m., and high tide will be at 7:33 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 2.3 ft. at 8 seconds in a medium-period east/south-east swell.
Enjoy your Labor Day weekend and get ready for waves this coming week. Hurricane Larry is looking like it will give us waves starting Wednesday and running through Friday and perhaps Saturday. The only fly in the soup might be the moderate south-west winds ahead of an approaching cold front mid/late-week. Stop by the shop to get anything you need before the storm swell shows up. Remember, you and your friends are the only ones who know the swell is coming.
Your National Weather Service Marine Weather Forecast for our area calls for: “High pressure will prevail through tonight. A cold front will approach the region on Monday, then stall and dissipate through the middle of the week. Another cold front is expected to bring impacts to the region towards the end of the week.”
It’s 75* this morning and sunny. Look for a little less humidity today with a high of 82* and sun with some clouds later this afternoon.
Water temperature is around 85*.
Sunrise is at 6:57 a.m. and sunset will be at 7:39 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
