Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thanksgiving Day, 2020
We’ll be closed today for Thanksgiving then open at 10 a.m. for normal operations on Friday.
We are most Thankful for YOU, supporting our small business. Thank you for all you do to help Ocean Surf Shop keep our small business running.
Surf at the Folly Beach Pier is waist-to-stomach high on the out-going tide this morning. There is a rare larger set. It actually looks pretty fun.
Winds are west/south-west at 5 to 10 knots. Surf is side-shore, but pretty clean early this morning.
Look for winds to rotate southerly at 10 knots this afternoon. And we see bumpy, semi-choppy surf today.
We have a low tide at 11:03 a.m., and a high tide at 5:09 p.m.
There is a mix of south-east swell and short period south swell at the virtual buoy for today, and it should make for rideable waves all day today.
Surf should continue rideable for your Thanksgiving Day. Winds rotate and increase from the south as a cold front moves into the area then moves off-shore later today. Look for moderate south/south-westerly winds adding some bump and chop. Surf looks to fall off for the weekend, before a strong cold front approaches on Sunday, when wind swell will be on the increase. Look for big, choppy south-west wind swell to start the first week of December.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “A cold front will move offshore Friday, followed by high pressure through Saturday night. A warm front will lift north Sunday, followed by a cold front Sunday night. Cold high pressure will then build over the area through Thursday.”
It’s 68* warm and sunny this morning. Look for a high of 73* today and partly cloudy skies. It’s a nice Thanksgiving at the beach.
Water temperature is around 65*.
Sunrise is at 6:59 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:12 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
