The 4th of July, 2022

Choppy.

Time of Report: 8:30 a.m.
Wave Forecast: Thigh-waist.
Traffic: OMG!
Parking: Haha.
Dangers: Amateur hour.

Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for the Fourth of July, 2022 at 8:30 a.m.

We hope that everyone has a great 4th of July holiday. We will be open from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. today.

Waves at The Washout are knee-to-thigh high as the tide comes in this morning.  There is a waist high set and it doesn’t look too bad. Not great, but rideable.

Winds are south-west at 10 to 15 knots, and surf-zone is side-shore and choppy.

We are expecting winds to continue south-west at 10 to 15 knots today, and we should see side-shore chop in the surf zone all day.

High tide is at 12:09 p.m. and low tide is at 6 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 2.6 feet at 5 seconds in a shorth-period south-west wind wave, with a south-easterly long-period swell 2 ft. at 10 seconds.

Looks like a small southerly trade-wind swell will continue during the first part of the work week, averaging knee-to-thigh high with south-west winds keeping things bumpy. This will increase late in the work-week as a frontal boundary approaches and south-west wind begin to pick up Thursday and Friday.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “High pressure will extend across the region this week before a front shifts through the area late weekend.”

It’s 82* and sunny this morning. It’s very humid, and look for a high of 87* with a chance for thunderstorms this afternoon.

Water Temperature is around 84*.

Sunrise is at 6:16 a.m., and sunset will be at 8:31 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
