Good morning, this is Chad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday, January, 11 at 8:30 a.m.

The water temperature is 42*, so put on your neoprene if you plan on surfing this mid-week swell. We have booties, gloves and hoods.

Surf at the Washout this morning is waist to stomach high with chest (plus) sets. It is closing out a bit at the morning’s low tide, but should get a push with the incoming tide. Surf is choppy, foggy and drifty, with a slight drifty down the beach from north to south.

Winds are ESE at 10 knots, and expected to stay ESE but increase to 15 to 25 knots today.

Low tide is at 9:47 a.m. and high tide will be at 3:46 p.m. The next low tide is at 9:51 p.m.

Edisto buoy is reading 8.9 ft. at 9 seconds in a combination of north-east wind swell and long period south-east swell.

We see ESE winds at 10 to 15 this morning, increasing to 15-25 later today, and surf should increase in size as the tide comes in under choppy conditions. We have building east wind swell and south-east ground swell in the waist to chest high range over the next several days, with winds trending ESE for today, and going south Friday. There should be plenty of swell in the water, but it might not be very clean. A front approaches late Friday, and winds go south-west and blow strong by Friday afternoon when surf gets side-shore and choppy.  Saturday morning we see a quick clean up.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “High pressure will slide into the Atlantic today while a coastal trough lingers offshore. The trough will push inland on Thursday and then lift north of the area. A cold front will move through the area Friday night followed by a secondary front Saturday night. Cool high pressure will return late in the weekend into early next week.”

It is 61 with clouds and some fog this morning. Expect a high of 68* and sun with periods of clouds today.

Water temperature is down to 42*.

Sunset is at 5:30 p.m. and sunrise will be at 7:22 a.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
