Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday, January 30 at 8:30 a.m.
A new shipment of Album surfboards has arrived, as well as some beautiful Epoxy Rusty 419 fish shapes. Come pick up a new stick and get ready for spring.
Looks like they are doing some paving in The Washout area, so expect delays if you head up that way. Parking is a problem up there right now as they work.
Surf at Folly this is waist-to-stomach high.
Winds are north/north-east at 15 to 18 knots, and surf zone is side-shore and semi-choppy with lots of drift down the beach.
Look for north-easterly winds to pick up at 15 to 20 knots today, and we see high-angled wind swell increase in size this afternoon.
High tide will be at 11:18 a.m., and low tide will be at 5:22 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 8.5 feet at 7 seconds in a building east/north-east swell.
We see high-angled north-east wind swell fill in and build today into Friday, with mostly choppy conditions and current running north-to-south, down the beach. Size should increase some, but don’t look for great wave quality today and Friday. Saturday might produce some waves. A low looks to move right over our marine area and quickly move northward along the east coast. Saturday night, a strong frontal boundary moves through after the low passes our waters with strong offshore winds blowing the surf down quickly. Look for smaller, colder waves Sunday morning. It’s a-ways’ out and models can change we will keep you updated here at Ocean as always.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “High pressure will prevail today and tonight. A storm system is expected to impact the area Friday into early Saturday. High pressure returns for the first part of next week.
It’s 49* this morning with cloudy skies. Look for a high of 58* with sun behind clouds this afternoon.
Water temperature has dropped back down to 54*. You’ll need at least a 4/3, and booties.
Sunrise is at 7:15 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:49 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
