Thursday, July 2

Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday, July 2 at 8:30 a.m.

We are still open, and those poor sweaty dudes leaning on shovels out there are making some progress, God bless em’. It’s a real mess, though. We are open, and so is our parking lot, for today.

Surf at the Pier is running thigh to waist high with an inconsistent waist high peak.

Winds are light and variable this morning. Surf zone is clean. Surf will come south-east this afternoon at 10 knot, adding some chop to the surf-zone, but I’d expect some rideable surf on the incoming tide this evening as the sun starts to drop.

We have a high tide at 10 a.m., a low tide will be at 3:52 p.m. The first next high tide is at 10:28 p.m.

Edisto Buoy is reading 3.3 feet ft at 7 seconds in a short period ENE wind-swell.

Our buddies at NOAA predict, “High pressure will extend over the region through the weekend.”

Enjoy this little summer bump today and Friday, because this little Tradewind swell should hold in until we see leftovers Saturday morning. The remainder of you holiday weekend looks small, so bring the log. We see fresh, choppy south-west wind swell fill in for Monday into Tuesday to wrap up your Independence Day weakened.

It’s a humid 82* with sunshine this morning and a high of 86*.

Water temperature It’s around 84*.

Sunrise is at 6:16 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:32 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
