Surf at Folly is on the increase with this spring storm system moving through our marine area today. Look for low lying areas – including and especially streets downtown – to be as flooded as the carburetor the first time you tried to kick start your new chopper. Folly’s streets are underwater, too. More or less.
Waves at Folly are on the build. It’s chest high at worst. Head high and possibly building at best.
It’s raining in sheets, and the waves are lumpy and bumpy with clean faces because of the rain. with a south wind at 20 knots. This looks to increase gale force this afternoon. And Gale is a real Beeotch, from what I hear, as in he/she (ya’ I know a dude named Gale) will create choppy conditions. Today. Victory at Sea is in store.
We have a high tide at 10:42 a.m., low tide is at 4:36 p.m. and high tide rolls in at 11 p.m.
Edisto Buoy is reading 9.8 ft at 7 seconds out of the south.
Nobody’s out. Be a hero. Nobody is going to take a picture of you today. But you are going to get your ass kicked, learn some lessons, and put another notch in your fiberglass. Those who need to know will know. Make risk informed decisions. Go fast. As this storm system moves thorough it promises to kick up a bigger, choppy south wind swell for the next 12 to 16 hours. Then winds should come south-west, to west, to hopefully west/north-west late tomorrow. It should laydown later in the day, but it should be windy tomorrow by 9:30 – 10 a.m. High pressure sets up for the weekend. It’ll be beauty spring weather, and maybe a longboard glide in the thigh high range, but nothing of real significance. Today and (hopefully) tomorrow are for all the glory. The rest is purely for relaxation.
NOAA Marine Forecast: “A storm system will impact the region today. High pressure should build over the region on Friday and persist into early next week.”
The water temp is around 67*.
It is 69* – dude – with heavy rain and flooding out here in spots. Rain all day, wind. Stay home and play Jenga.
Sunrise is 6:54 a.m., Sunset 7:47 p.m.
That’s all from us at Ocean Surf Shop. We’ll check back tomorrow.
