Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday, April 14 at 9:00 a.m.

Waves at The Washout this morning are running thigh-to-waist high with a stomach high set in a south wind swell.

Winds are south-west at 5 to 10 knots, and surf zone has some bump and chop in it, but it looks fun for a high volume board.

Look for southerly winds today at 10 to 15 knots with gusts to 20 knots this afternoon. Surf will get choppy later today.

We are coming off a high tide at day-break, low tide will be at 12:50 p.m. The next high tide is at 7:11 a.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 3 feet at 5 seconds in a short period south/south-east wind swell.

Look for short period south swell to build today and overnight ahead of a cold front passage. Waves should clean up some on Friday morning before winds go strong north/north-east for afternoon, blowing the surf down. Friday shows light winds and small easterly swell for the long-board. Waves get smaller Sunday. There is some east/north-east wind/ground swell predicted Monday and into the middle of the upcoming work week as strong high pressure sets up over our marine area. There will be some easterly winds on it. Look for this swell to rotate more on-shore late Wednesday into Thursday of next week.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “A cold front will move through tonight, followed by high pressure through Friday night. A series of disturbances will affect the area Saturday through Monday, then high pressure will build over the area.”

It’s currently 70* and cloudy. Look for a high of 75* and clouds ahead of a cold front.

Water Temperature is around 67*.

Sunrise is at 6:50 a.m., and sunset will be at 7:48 p.m.
