Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, April 14 at 8:30 a.m.
Surf at The Washout this morning is thigh-to-waist high. There is a stomach set.
Winds are south-west at 5 to 10 knots, and surf zone is bumpy and kind of soft, but there are some clean sections.
Look for winds to gradually pick up from the south-west late morning at 15 to 20 knots ahead of a cold front. Surf should build in size and get choppy and drifty this afternoon.
We have a high tide at 10:36 a.m., and a low tide at 4:34 p.m. The next high tide is well after dark.
Virtual buoy readings are showing mixed easterly swell under 3.6 ft. at 5 seconds in a building south-west, short-period wind swell.
We have a few waves for the high volume board this morning averaging thigh-to-waist high. It’s not too choppy, early. Look for more south-west winds and choppy conditions this afternoon. Winds could come west late day, so keep an eye on the flags. A cold front stalls off-shore Friday. Hopefully a more meaningful low will pop off of this stalled frontal boundary for Friday and into the weekend, but right now swell models are NOT calling for much surf for Friday and into early next week.
Your National Weather Service Marine Weather forecast calls for: “A cold front will advance through the region today, then will stall off the Southeast coast Friday through early next week. A series of low pressures will track along this stationary front this weekend into early next week. Drier high pressure will then build over the area through the second half of next week.”
It is cloudy and 72* this morning. Look for a high of 73* and clouds this afternoon with rain showers in the area.
Water temperature is around 68*.
Sunrise is at 6:48 a.m. and sunset will be at 7:49 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
