Thursday, April 25

Clean early. Chop later today.

Time of Report: 8:45 a.m.
Wave Forecast: Knee-to-thigh.
Traffic: Some. Not too bad.
Parking: Some to be found.
Dangers: No-seeums are really bad.

Good morning this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday, April 25 at 8:30 a.m.

We have a ton of spring-suits and jackets in the shop, so as we get some spring swell, come check it out and stay warm with Ocean Surf Shop.

Surf at Folly is knee-to-thigh high and very clean. The tide is high, so surf is soft and breaking right up on the beach. No one is out, but it is a five-star morning. This morning couldn’t get any prettier if you polished it.

Winds are currently westerly at 10 knots. We see north winds this morning at 10 knots, going east at 10 to 20 knots this afternoon. Look for choppy surf this afternoon, but we don’t really expect it to build too much in the way of surf today.

We have a high tide approaching 8:55 a.m. with the tide dropping out to low at 2:55 p.m with incoming tide into the evening.

The Edisto buoy is reading 3 feet at 12 seconds in a long period easterly ground swell, so there is probably a wave in North-Florida, but it’s passing by Folly Beach.

We don’t expect much in the way of surf through Friday, but we do expect surf to pick up some as easterly winds blow and rotate more south-easterly through the weekend, pushing up some easterly wind-swell later Saturday into Sunday. Nothing great, but something to play around with on a high-volume stick. This trend continues Monday before fading out during the middle of next week.

Your National Weather Service Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A weak trough will drop south of the area today. High pressure builds back into the region late week through the early part of next week.”

Water temperature is hovering right around 70*, so spring suits and jackets are the call for mornings and evenings.

It’s a beautiful day currently sunny around 70*. Look for sun and a high of 75* today.

That’s all from us at Ocean Surf check back tomorrow.
