Good morning this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday, April 6 at 8:30 a.m.

A new batch of SofTech softboards just hit the floor, so come check them out.

Surfs looking around knee-high at The Washout. It’s kind of weak and breaking close in at the higher tide, but could be fun for the longboard once again this morning.

Winds are light from the south at 5 knots, and the surf zone is semi-clean.

Winds will be from the south today about 5 knots in the morning, and increasing to 5-15 knots in the afternoon

We are coming off a high tide at 8:43 a.m., low tide will be at 2:43 p.m. The high tide will be at 9:09 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 2 feet at 7 seconds in medium period south-east swell.

There is a little glide for the high-volume board this morning if you can find the right spot. And it’s a nice day at the beach. This small, lazy south swell should continue through Friday. A cold front moves through the area starting Saturday morning, and we will see a big north-east blow and bigger high angled north-east wind swell from Saturday through Tuesday with very windy, drifty, semi-choppy and much cooler conditions. There will likely be more size to the surf Sunday through Tuesday, but local conditions won’t be ideal. Head to south Florida. It’ll likely be much bigger, but the wind will likely be blowing as a low departs from the Gulf of Mexico, across the Florida Peninsula and into the Atlantic Sunday and into next week.

The NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area calls for; “High pressure will prevail through tonight, before a cold front arrives Friday. Thereafter, high pressure is expected to return and persist through the middle of next week.”

It’s 72* and warm. It’s partly cloudy. Expect clouds mixed with sun and a high of 74*. Beach weather is perfect.

Water temperature is back up to 70 after all this warm weather. Expect it to go back down after a big north-east blow next week.

Sunrise is at 7:01 a.m., and sunset will be at 7:43 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
