The Governor’s Cup of Surfing takes place this weekend at The Washout. Come see who wins the state championship this weekend.

Surf showing thigh-waist high this morning with moderate side/onshore winds. May even see it build a bit on the incoming tide late morning. Overall doesn’t look to shabby.

Winds are moderate out of the SSW 10-20mph making for some choppy surf. These winds should continue through today.

Low tide at 9:54 a.m., and high tide will be at 4:31 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 3ft at 9 seconds in medium period ESE swell.

We currently have some ESE trade-swell/local SSW wind-swell mix showing today. Thigh-waist high its pretty choppy but overall looks worth the effort. Friday into the weekend, we see typical, choppy south-west, summer-style wind swell return with moderate to strong south-west winds keeping things choppy. Long range has to weak lows in the eastern Caribbean well see if they can hang on later next week.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “.Synopsis for the coastal waters of south coastal South Carolina and north coastal Georgia… Broad high pressure will prevail with several disturbances bringing unsettled weather into the weekend. A cold front will approach the area early next week.”

Water temperature is around 85*.

It’s already 83* with sun. Expect sun mixed with clouds and blazing hot temperatures today with a high of around 91*

Sunrise is at 6:39 a.m., and sunset will be at 8:10 p.m.
