The Governor’s Cup of surfing takes place at the Washout this weekend. This is pretty much the state championship, so come check it out.

Waves at Folly this morning are knee-to-thigh high. Maybe slightly bigger. Best for a high volume board.

Winds are west/north-west at 5 knots, and surf zone is clean.

Look for westerly winds this morning to rotate southwest at 5 to 10. increasing south-west at 15 before going south at 15 to 20 late day ahead of an approaching cold front.

We see choppier surf this afternoon as south/south-west wind swell continues ahead of an approaching cold front.

Tide is now going out. Low tide is at 1:45 p.m., and high tide is at 8:24 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading a very small 2.3 feet at 9 seconds in a medium period east/south-east swell.

Slight trade-wind swell is still running knee-to-thigh high this morning, and overall it’s pretty clean, early. Look for increasing south-west winds chopping things up this afternoon. South-west wind swell picks up late week as a cold front approaches with strong south-west winds overnight. Friday could clean up some as the front lingers in our marine area. Saturday and Sunday we see swell begin to rotate expecting some north-east/east winds. We are also still keeping an eye on the tropics. There is a spot to watch in the Central Atlantic. Maybe something to watch as it approaches our swell window early-to-middle part of next week, even though it is expected to fizzle out.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “A cold front will approach today and into Friday, before pushing offshore early Saturday. High pressure will briefly return early next week. Another front could impact the region towards the middle of the week.”

It’s 79* with clouds this morning. Look for a high of 86* and sun with passing clouds today.  There is a chance for a storm later this afternoon.

Water Temperature is about as hot as it gets. It’s around 86*.

Sunrise is at 6:39 a.m., and sunset will be at 8:10 p.m.
