Dangers: None.

Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday, August 26 at 8:30 a.m.

We received a 10-board shipment of Solid Surfboards. Mostly long-boards and mid-lengths. They look beautiful. Come check them out.

Surf at the Washout is knee-to thigh high with a waist high set. It does not have great form, as winds are side/on-shore.

Winds are east at 10 knots. Surf is mostly choppy.

Winds are predicted to continue east this morning, and increase at 15 knots this afternoon. We see a mostly choppy surf zone all day.

High tide is at 11:20 a.m., and low tide will be at 5:29 p.m.

The Edisto buoy is reading 2.6 ft. at 8 seconds in a medium period east/south-east swell.

There is some small swell at the buoy and some small waves this morning, but the form isn’t great with east winds keeping things choppy. High pressure dominates for late week. Surf looks smaller for today, but we should see short period south-east wind swell pick up Friday into Saturday. There will be some easterly wind in the surf zone, so conditions will be a bit choppy. This swell fades Sunday afternoon into the early part of the work week. Either way, there should be something to ride Friday and Saturday.

Your National Weather Service Marine Weather Forecast for our area calls for: “Atlantic high pressure will gradually build towards the area and prevail into early next week. A cold front will then approach the region by the middle of next week.”

It’s 80* this morning and there’s clouds. Look for mostly sun today and a high of 84*. There is a slight chance for a thunderstorm.

Water temperature is around 85*.

Sunrise is at 6:50 a.m. and sunset will be at 7:51 p.m.
