Good morning, this is Luke with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday August 31th at 8:30 a.m.

We will be having a Labor Day board sale, with $100 off many boards in the shop. Come check out what’s on sale.

There is a swell left from Idalia, although winds are stiff offshore. Its currently thigh-waist high with some rare plus sets. Its clean but the swell is dropping quickly.

Winds are currently strong out of the north-west around 15-25mph wind is forecasted to tapper off and become lighter as the day moves on.

High tide at report time. Low tide will be at 2:55 p.m.,

The Edisto Buoy is reading 10.2 feet at 7 seconds in a short period swell moving away from shore now.

Surf is currently thigh-waist+ and dropping quickly.  This fading trend continues the remainder of the work week. With only small minor NE wind-swell showing on Friday. Saturday Idalia moves off the Carolinas and has a close encounter of being in our swell window again briefly we will see if she pushes far enough south which some models suggest. High pressure does move back in over our marine area otherwise and things become more quite again early next week. Long range hints at a juicy low forming east of the Caribbean and moving our way late next week. That’s a ways out but currently something to keep us entertained. That was a fun run of swells.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “Hurricane Idalia is expected to bring significant impacts to the area today into Thursday morning. High pressure will then return late week and continue into the weekend. Refer to the latest advisory on Idalia issued by the National Hurricane Center.”

 Water temperature is around 85*.

It’s 80 with clearing skies* Look for a high of 85* with sunshine returning.

Sunrise is at 6:53 a.m., and sunset will be at 7:47 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
