Time of Report: 8:30 a.m.
Wave Forecast: Flat to knee. Building NE wind swell.
Traffic: Not much.
Parking: Plenty.
Dangers: None.

Good morning this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday, December 1 at 8:30 a.m.

Waves at the Washout today are knee-high in a building, fresh north-east wind swell.

Winds are north/north-east at 15 to 20 knots, and surf is side-shore, semi-choppy and drifty down the beach.

We see north-east winds at 15 to 20 today, diminishing 10 to 15 later today. We see a choppy, drifty surf zone all day.

We are coming off an early morning low tide, and high tide will be at 2:25 p.m. The next low tide will be at 8:30 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 6.2 feet at 7 seconds in a building north/north-east wind swell, most of which is going to be passing to our south.

After a cold front passage overnight, winds are strong north/north-east and pushing wind-swell past our beaches. This general trend continues for Friday as winds go lighter from the north-east. For the weekend, swell rotates more on-shore as small east/south-east swell moves more into our swell-window Saturday into Sunday when a front stalls near our marine area. Likely nothing too big, but perhaps something fun to ride Saturday and through Monday with more moderate winds in the forecast. So, weekend warriors get ready to suit up and catch a few.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “High pressure will build in across the region through Friday. A front will then shift into the area Saturday and Saturday night, and could linger in the vicinity into early next week.”

It’s a chilly 48* here at the beach with lots of sun.  Look for a high of 56* today with clouds and sun mixed this afternoon.

Water temperature is around 61*.

Sunrise is at 7:03 a.m., and sunset will be at 5:13 p.m.
