Good morning this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday, December 8 at 8:30 a.m.

We have tons of new men’s O’Neill wet-suits in stock. Come check them out and enjoy this upcoming swell.

Also, new Gary Wilson boards just landed. Come check them out.

Waves at the Washout today are knee-to-thigh high with waist high sets. It looks fun for the high-volume board.

Winds are trace west, and it’s very clean in the surf-zone this morning.

We see north winds this afternoon around 10 knots, and surf zone should stay fairly clean all day.

We had a high tide around 7:30 a.m., and low tide will be at 2 p.m. The next high tide will be at 7:57 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 3 feet at 10 seconds in a long period easterly swell.

We expect lazy long period ground swell to continue this week and possibly increase in size Friday into Saturday as a low pressure system has formed in the western Atlantic and it should push up a pretty decent easterly swell Friday through Sunday. There will be some stronger north-east winds for Saturday, but overall, winds should be north around 10 knots for the period. If you have the means, Florida and the Outer Banks will likely be good over the weekend and into early next week.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “High pressure will persist today before a cold front sweeps through Friday. Weak low pressure could cross the region late this weekend. Then, high pressure will prevail through early next week. Low pressure will approach the region around the middle of next week.”

It’s 65* and sunny. Look for a high of 69* today and sun. Nice surfing weather for December.

Water temperature is around 61*.

Sunrise is at 7:09 a.m., and sunset will be at 5:13 p.m.
